Confor is a membership organisation that promotes the sustainable management of forests and wood-using businesses. As the voice of the UK’s forestry and wood sector, they represent the whole forestry and wood supply chain, from nurseries and growers to wood-processing end users.
Firefly was commissioned to complete an extensive rebrand of Confor. This process included a new brand identity, featuring the organisations new name, ‘Confor: Promoting forestry and wood’. This was to be rolled out across all communications, including their website, stationery, reports and exhibition materials.
We started the rebranding process by creating a logo design incorporating the brands new strapline. The fresh, contemporary design reflected the approachable nature of the organisation and their credibility within the forestry and wood sector.
The logo we created was designed as part of a dynamic and versatile overarching brand identity. As a result, the imagery and graphics within the graphic letter ‘C’ could be changed to suit a variety of different projects and themes. Although the fluidity of this element of the marque was adaptable, it maintained common threads in the form of the structure, typography keyline and strapline.
A clean, modern san serif typeface was selected for the brand. This decision was primarily based on its legibility, as well as its flexibility to be used as part of the logo, and for headlines and body copy. This contributed to a strong brand identity and helped to ensure consistency across all touch points.
In order for Confor’s new brand to be communicated correctly and consistently at all times, we created a comprehensive set of brand guidelines, which covered in great depth the use of their new brand identity. This included how the logo could be used and adapted, how a bilingual version of the logo would work, the nature inspired colour palette, typography, photography and how the brand applies to stationery and literature.
