RenewableUK Cymru is the Welsh arm of RenewableUK, the established voice of the UK’s renewable energy sector.
The organisation brings together industry, government, and communities to support developments in onshore and offshore wind, solar, tidal stream, and other clean energy technologies. RenewableUK Cymru plays a key role in driving Wales’ transition to a low-carbon future and green economy.

The Brief
Firefly was commissioned by Biggar Economics to convey the findings of a major study conducted for RenewableUK Cymru on the socio-economic impact of renewable energy in Wales. The challenge was to present detailed research through clear, visually compelling communications designed to inform and resonate with a broad audience.

The Creative Outcome
We collaborated to transform the study’s findings into a suite of engaging and user-friendly materials. This included a 50-page impact report, executive summary, a series of infographics, a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation template and several case studies.
We worked within RenewableUK Cymru’s established visual language, leveraging their existing brand assets, including their fan device and approachable colourways, to ensure consistency and cohesion across all formats.
A bespoke illustration served as a key visual designed to incorporate the various renewable energy technologies: onshore and offshore wind, solar and tidal stream energy within a landscape cross-section.
Accessibility was a core consideration throughout the project. We ensured a strong contrast between text and background colours and maintained a consistent structural framework to support ease of reading. A clear typographic hierarchy guided the eye through varying levels of information, while carefully crafted layouts made dense data more digestible.
Infographics were adapted to highlight the impacts of specific technologies, and we implemented iconography strategically to emphasise key messages, signpost important data, and create visual rhythm across the assets.
