City Science is a UK-based engineering and technology company focused on decarbonisation. It uses data and science to help organisations in both the public and private sectors to reduce carbon emissions and build sustainable places.

The Brief
Firefly was commissioned to develop the City Science brand and create a suite of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates.

The Creative Outcome
During the brand development phase, we worked closely with City Science to define how the brand could be adapted to better reflect the services they offer.
To retain brand awareness amongst their target audience, the logo development was an evolution of the existing marque. We introduced circular devices to the brand in the form of patterns and graphic devices as a means of segmenting content within key visuals. We also incorporated a suite of icons to help engage viewers and support the brand.
We then applied the clean and professional visual style to Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates.
The updated brand was applied to bespoke Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates, which City Science utilised for key presentations, interviews and reports. The templates were designed to offer the team efficient tools that communicated the brand consistently.
For their Microsoft Word template, we developed landscape pages to accommodate wider tables, graphs and charts. These were pre-formatted to be easily inserted into the document.
As part of their PowerPoint presentation deck, we designed a series of diagram templates that can be populated by the user to communicate information in a more engaging way. This was enhanced further by introducing key brand icons that can be edited to accompany the message appropriately.
Comprehensive user notes were supplied to City Science along with an in-depth training session to guide their team through best practices for using their templates.
