Intrepidus Outdoors

Intrepidus Outdoors is an adventure tourism and outdoor education provider based in Edinburgh. Specialising in canyoning, coasteering, mountain biking and mountaineering, their experiences take clients to some of the most beautiful, yet extreme environments across Scotland and the North of England.

The Brief

Intrepidus Outdoors approached Firefly to create impactful branding, including a logo and website design, that would set them apart from their competitors. The target audience was adults looking for outdoor adventure experiences, from corporate events, to stag and hen parties. As a result, in addition to emphasising the fun and active dimension of the company, they wanted us to highlight their professionalism and reliability as a high-end brand.

The Creative Outcome

The logo design utilises bold and impactful typography paired with a linear graphic device, evocative of mountain tops. This simplistic design is complimented by a bright and playful colour palette, which reflects the dynamic, yet approachable nature of the organisation.

Built with a WordPress content management system (CMS), the website is responsive across all devices and uses clear navigation hierarchy to provide an intuitive user experience. The vibrant and eye-catching colour palette engages visitors whilst the clean, modern typography communicates core messages clearly and succinctly. This was further facilitated by the use of iconography, which helps to break down key information in a compelling and easily digestible way.

The focal point of the website is its impactful imagery and videos. This content captures the essence of the organisation, showcasing their fun range of experiences, whilst encouraging visitors to make a booking. We also produced an animated version of their logo to be used as an introduction to all video content.

Finally, we were commissioned to create an illustration of a selkie as an additional brand asset. This was used across Intrepidus Outdoors’ wetsuits, vehicles and marketing materials. Unique and intriguing, the merman inspired illustration incorporates a paddle, symbolising adventure and tying in with the overarching brand identity.
