Eyecare Website

Based in Edinburgh, Eyecare (who have since changed their name to CETpoints) is the largest independent provider of Continuing Education and Training (CET) for the optical industry in the UK.

They provide CET in a number of different ways, including online learning, clinical conferences, peer review and skills workshops.

The Brief

As part of a brand development project, Firefly was commissioned to redesign Eyecare’s website. Having designed the company’s quarterly journal, etCETera, and produced a print advertising campaign to promote their Conference & Exhibition, we were tasked with bringing their online presence in line with all communications.

 

The Creative Outcome

The website is a central part of Eyecare’s CET offering, therefore a seamless User Experience (UX) design was a priority to ensure users could quickly and easily access content and undertake training. The website achieves this by offering intuitive navigation and a clear and easy to follow structure. It was also important for users to be able to access the website via their smartphones, therefore we ensured the user experience was optimised for mobile devices.

The website design is simultaneously academic and professional, helping to connect with the company’s target audience. We used modern, highly legible typography and clear typographic hierarchy to highlight key messages, such as call to actions. In addition to encouraging engagement, this helps communicate important information clearly and succinctly, facilitating ease of use.

We used a colour overlay across the imagery on the website to capture visitor’s attention and reinforce a strong and consistent brand identity. Training videos were an integral part of the website, allowing people working in the optical industry to easily access and complete online training. We also included questionnaires, which could be completed by users once they had watched each video to test their learning.
