Naomi McGuire
Middle-weight Designer
Naomi takes a holistic approach to design projects, paying close attention to client needs and weaving brand stories with creative flair.

Background
Born in Edinburgh, Naomi graduated with a degree in Interior and Environmental Design from the University of Dundee before moving into the area of Graphic Design. Her background in 3D design and contextual imagery presentation has helped to inform her understanding of ergonomics and her style of digital illustration.
Upon graduating, Naomi worked in a brand and marketing agency where she developed her skillset and gained client experience across a wide range of sectors. She crafted brand identities from scratch, bringing them to life through social media campaigns, motion graphics, and a range of other visual assets.
Naomi then took the step to pursue freelance work, collaborating regularly with a social research agency as well as other clients from the arts, retail and financial sectors. Her freelance projects allowed her to expand her portfolio, creating designs and even murals for third-sector initiatives. Naomi’s broad experience enables her to make informed design decisions and better understand client needs.

Role at Firefly
Naomi’s part-time role at Firefly involves designing for a variety of clients across a wide range of projects, from developing existing brands and applying and reinventing their pre-established visual language to creating new and engaging brand identities. Naomi enjoys collaborating with clients and colleagues to deliver visually compelling communications that convey key messages clearly and effectively.

Personal interest
Outside the studio, Naomi loves spending time outdoors, regularly hiking and camping. With a strong interest in photography, she enjoys capturing thought-provoking images of the natural world. Naomi finds her time in nature often sparks ideas in her design projects. She is also a skilled pianist who likes listening to music and discovering new artists.

Environmental action
Naomi understands and advocates for the importance of living an eco-conscious lifestyle. She chooses to cycle, walk and travel by public transport, and is mindful of her environmental impact when working on creative projects. At Firefly, Naomi has volunteered with the Water of Leith Conservation Trust, participating in activities such as litter picking to help keep Edinburgh clean.

“Thank you so much for your work on the report infographics, and especially the speedy turnaround – they really helped us get to where we needed to be in time for the official launch and circulation to press yesterday.
We’ve had loads of coverage for the recent report today and hoping to get more across the week. Also a huge thanks again for your work on the branding and templates generally. Working the report up using the Citizens Advice Scotland report template didn’t take me long at all and we’re so very happy with how it looks!”
