Senior Designer & Chief Sustainability Officer
Sarah grew up on a farm in Dumfries and Galloway before moving to Edinburgh to study Graphic Design at Napier University. Upon graduating, Sarah travelled around Australia and spent a year living and working in Sydney for a strategic marketing agency and latterly a branding and digital design agency.
Upon returning to the UK, Sarah worked with a publishing house in London before moving back to Scotland to work with The University of Dundee. Sarah joined Firefly in 2017 and quickly settled into the team, even organising an Easter egg hunt competition in her first month.
Whether it’s advertising, branding, digital, print or video, Sarah never fails to combine her endless creativity with technical skills to produce innovative work for every project. The list of varied clients she’s been lucky enough to work with is a further testament to her ability to adapt and design for different sectors, including Citizens Advice Scotland, Edinburgh Surgery Online, The FARR Institute, Health Data Research UK, Henry Schein Veterinary Solutions, Insight, JAC Vapour, Kingask Holiday Property and Rough Guides.
As Chief Sustainability Officer, Sarah has been pivotal in Firefly’s journey to becoming a climate positive company, driving new sustainability initiatives in a bid to reduce their carbon footprint. From replacing single use items with reusable alternatives, to taking steps to reduce the use of paper in the studio, Sarah is continually evaluating internal structures and processes to champion sustainability.
Quick to learn the ropes in work, outside of work Sarah loves the great outdoors and enjoys hill walking, running and rock climbing. Despite having a lot on her plate, Sarah has a real passion for cooking and is always experimenting with recipes for new dishes.
