Kate is an independent digital and technology consultant who collaborates with Firefly on digital strategy, technical scoping and complex web projects, helping clients turn business requirements into practical, deliverable digital solutions.
Background
Kate has more than 20 years’ experience helping organisations make the most of technology. Before becoming an independent consultant, she founded and ran Edinburgh agency Digital Six, leading a multidisciplinary team delivering complex projects for organisations across retail, sport, food and drink, manufacturing and the third sector.
Her experience spans strategy, technical discovery, platform selection, systems integration and transformation. She has worked extensively with Shopify, BigCommerce, WordPress and Magento/Adobe Commerce, alongside headless architectures, CRM and ERP systems. This breadth of experience enables her to bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery, helping organisations make informed decisions about platforms, partners and the best approach to achieving their objectives.
Working with Firefly
Kate collaborates with Firefly on selected digital projects, providing additional strategic and technical expertise where required.
Working particularly at the discovery and scoping stages, she helps clients define what they need their digital platforms to achieve, understand technical and integration requirements, evaluate potential solutions and identify risks before development begins.
Her role helps bridge the gap between business strategy, user requirements and technology, ensuring that digital projects have a strong foundation and that the proposed solution is appropriate, realistic and aligned with the client’s wider objectives.
Kate also brings extensive experience of working alongside designers, developers, technology partners and internal client teams, helping translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Personal interests
Originally from the USA, Kate has called Edinburgh home for nearly 30 years, although you’d never know it from her accent.
She has travelled extensively, loves adventure and is always looking for somewhere new to explore. A keen gig-goer, she needs very little persuading to accompany her teenage daughter to see some live music.
