Based in Edinburgh, Occles is an innovative eyewear brand that helps to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays, and provides complete blackout when you want to rest. They are perfect for relaxing on the beach and for sleeping during long flights.

The Brief

Firefly was commissioned to develop the Occles’ branding, including the creation of a key brand image and design of marketing materials to promote the company as it established a new product in a competitive marketplace.

The Creative Outcome

In order to capture a central image to communicate the essence of the brand, we art directed a photography shoot with talented photographer, Brendan MacNeill. Our primary focus was to produce a vibrant and aspirational image that depicted a model wearing Occles in the glowing sunshine by a pool. This was not a straightforward task, as the photograph was taken in the middle of winter in Scotland, without the budget to travel abroad to shoot on location in a sunnier climate. However, with clever use of lighting and carefully crafted post-editing, we adapted the image taken in a studio in Scotland to look like it was shot on location in Spain!

The brochure we designed includes easy-to-follow images and step-by-step instructions, demonstrating clearly and succinctly how the Occles eyeshades should be used. The impactful branding was rolled out consistently across various touch points, including promotional brochures, exhibition displays and product tags. These print communications introduce Occles’ strong brand identity and promote the company’s key product to their target audience.
