Edinburgh Surgery Online
Edinburgh Surgery Online provides part-time online Masters (MSC) courses, run by The University of Edinburgh and in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
The bespoke, online programme is designed to give surgeons in training the flexibility to study at a time and place that suits them.

The Brief
Edinburgh Surgery Online approached Firefly to rebrand their suite of programmes, which aimed to position them as one of the leading global providers of online surgical education.
The main creative outcomes of this project were branding, logo design and website design using a Drupal Content Management System (CMS). We also created a Microsoft PowerPoint newsletter template, print and online advertising displays, flyers, pop-up banner stands and social media graphics.
The Creative Outcome
During this project we focused on developing a brand identity which would reflect Edinburgh Surgery Online’s authority in their field, whilst engaging their target audience.
We used a vibrant colour palette and a combination of authoritative serif and modern, highly legible sans serif typography to create a fresh and contemporary, yet professional aesthetic for the brand. Whilst the bright colours quickly capture visitor’s attention, the use of typographic hierarchy and refined iconography helps to break down key information and highlight call to actions.
The colour overlay technique creates consistency across all of the photography on the website. Moreover, the photographs add a human touch to the brand, creating a friendly and welcoming look and feel, whilst illustrating its academic roots. This is reinforced by the prominent social media features, which encourage conversation and interaction.
The website design offers an intuitive user experience and clear navigation hierarchy, guiding visitors seamlessly through each page. Built with longevity in mind, it is fully responsive, providing visitors with an optimum experience across mobile, tablet and desktop.
The branding we developed was applied to an extensive range of creative communications. This ensured Edinburgh Surgery Online was promoted consistently across all touch points, helping to build brand awareness and customer loyalty.
